Car Insurance Mercury (Car Insurance). What advantages does high mileage oil have over conventional oil? What advantages does high mileage oil have over conventional oil? high millage oil usualy is some what thicker, has additives to help with leaks and is mostly always a semi synthetic blend in witch it burns at a higher temp. older cars often leak and burn oil so using this oil does help with those problems. I use high millage 10W30 in my subaru it has 258K and it helps out ALOT. you dont have to change it as often Not much, just a new selling feature. They say they have special additives to protect older engines High mileage oil sometimes is called synthtic oil, it is supposed to be a synthetic oil that has much smaller molecules than conventional oil. this means better protection according to some people, as there is more molecules closer together, for more protection. High mileage oils, may also have some additives that help stablize the oil so it does not break down as often. I tried both, I changed for a few years, For me, it got dirty about the same as regular oil, I did not get any higher mileage out of it either. It did not seem any slippery over any other oil. the only difference I noticed, was it cost a lot more than other oils.So to each his own, I think, clean oil, is the best thing you can do for any engine. Along with clean fuel and for modern fuel injected engines, keeping the tank more full than empty, can help keep the fuel pump in the top of your tank to run cooler, I fill my tank up when it gets near half. Running the tank almost empty all the time, has an opposite effect the fuel pump can overheat, and when it runs hot, houston we have a problem. as NASA used to say. high mileage is meant for older cars. it contains more 'detergent' elements, and various extra lubricating elements. if your engine is old and cruddy, gummy, or has sat for a long time, its a fine idea to try high mileage oil. Mercury . can a broken sway bar lead to a broken axle? can a broken sway bar lead to a broken axle? About a week ago, the CV boot in my 99 grand prix tore while I was driving up a hill and it made a loud, god awful clunking noise when I put it in drive, park, and reverse. I was able to make it to my house by coasting backwards down the hill and then pushing it the rest of the way. Anywho, my dad automatically assumed it was the transmission. I had just bought new tires for it and we were taking them off to put on a spare car we have in the back yard when my brother noticed the sway bar was broken, right near the end of it, and the cv boot was torn. He replaced my axle but didn't bother with the sway bar, saying it has been broken for a while and it wasn't really a big deal, even though it looks like it's just swingin around in there. Well, after the new axle was put on, it ran fine. For about 2 days. The night after it was put on, I was coming home and heard a loud pop, just one time, when turning to the right. It still ran fine after the pop and I told my dad as soon as I got home. He just shook it off. But the day after that when I was driving to work, I heard the loud pop again but this time the car wouldn't move. It's at the shop now, but he can't look at it until next week. I assumed it was the axle but seeing as it was only 2 days old, I'm second guessing myself. So my question is, can my broken sway bar be tearing into the CV boot? Or does it sound like a transmission problem? car insurance. Auto parts : Door Hinge Pin Jaguar 1997. Door Jamb Switch Jeep 1998. Door Lock Kia 1999. Door Lock Actuator Land Rover 2000. Mercury . How to Charge a Panterra Electric ScooterElectric scooters, like the Panterra, are more popular in 2011 than ever. With the price of gasoline soaring ever higher, the use of an electric vehicle is very appealing to many people. Charging an electric scooter is easier than refueling a car, as it usually consists of simply plugging a charger into a socket. Panterra electric scooters are basically identical to other electric scooters as far as the equipment necessary to charge them and the steps required to complete the task. Difficulty:Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Panterra scooter charger Step by Step : 1 Locate the charging port on your Panterra scooter. The port is usually located near or under the seat or near the handlebars. The exact location of the charging port is in the owner's manual included with the scooter. 2 Plug the charging end of the Panterra charger into the scooter charging port. 3 Plug the AC plug end of the scooter charger into any standard wall socket. 4 Allow your Panterra scooter to charge for at least the minimum time recommended in your owner's manual. 5 Unplug both ends of the scooter charger and store it for future use. Close the seat or charging port cover before operating your scooter. ResourcesMonster Scooter Parts: Panterra Charge and Battery Kit Information
Mercury . How to Keep My ATV Battery WarmKeeping your ATV battery warm on frigid days is done by using a product called a snowmobile/ATV engine warmer. This is a blanket that sits on top of the engine to keep the battery and many of the other engine components from freezing. This includes the viscosity of the oil and other fluids that are needed to run the ATV. However, you will first need to obtain an engine warmer to use with your ATV. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Engine warmer blanket Step by Step : 1 Open the hood of the ATV to access the engine. 2 Unroll the blanket and place it over the engine. Make sure the blanket covers the battery. 3 Plug the power cord into an electrical outlet. If the ATV is being kept outside you may need to run an extension cord to the ATV to plug in the blanket. 4 Set the temperature control to the desired setting. This can range between 50 and 180 degrees Faherenheit. 5 Leave the blanket on during the night or when you are not planning to ride the ATV. 6 Unplug the power cord and remove the blanket when you want to use the ATV. Tips & Warnings Fold the blanket over if it is too big for the engine compartment of your ATV. Alien (or hex) ufrenches Some of the screws or fastenings on your vehicle may have odd-shaped holes in the centers of their heads that require special Allen wrenches — L-shaped rods that fit into the holes (see Figure 2-7). If the center hole is hexagonal, the wrench you need is sometimes called a hex wrench. You can buy a set of assorted-sized Allen wrenches for under $15. Part I: Getting Started. Figure 2-7: Allen wrenches. Socket Frenches A good set of socket wrenches, shown in Figure 2-8, can really make the difference between enjoying your work and killing yourself over it. Socket wrenches come in sets for a wide variety of prices, depending on quality and how many there are in the set. Sets can include either a mix of SAE and metric sockets, all SAE, or all metric pieces. Unless you've decided to become a mechanic, you can buy an inexpensive set of basic socket wrenches suitable for your vehicle for less than $25. Figure 2-8: A socket wrench set. 158

The metric sizes most often used are 10,11,12,13, and 14 mm. The word drive refers to the size of the square hole in each socket where it attaches to the ratchet handle. It's easy to remember that the smaller the drive, the smaller the job you use it for. A X-inch drive is for tiny areas; %-inch drive is for the next range of sizes, typically up to SAE % or 18 mm metric; &-inch drive is for up to SAE IK, or up to 25 mm; and other drives up to 2 inches are for really big jobs (you won't need one of these monsters). You can use adapters to convert sockets of one drive to fit handles of another drive. A spark plug socket: This is the large socket with a soft lining to hold the spark plug securely without damaging its soft jacket when you remove and insert it, or when you drop it on the floor by mistake. Spark plugs come in two sizes, so make sure to get the size that fits the spark plugs in your car. Your owner's manual may note the spark plug size. At least one ratchet handle, to which you can fit any of the sockets: Most sets have two or three handles with at least one adapter. You may want to add additional adapters to extend the handle to different sizes and adapt it to different drives. Figure 2-9 shows the wide variety of sockets, handles, and adapters available. It enables you to hold the ratchet handle at any angle when working in tight places — and engines are full of tight places! Socket extenders: These indispensable items help you get your socket head way down into the bowels of your engine compartment to reach those almost-unreachable nuts and bolts. The way to tell a good socket wrench set is to look at the number of teeth in the ratchet handle. Most have 20 to 30 teeth. The really good ones have up to Mercury . This is because you have to move the handle only a few degrees to turn the nut as much as a cheaper handle would in many degrees. In other words, a ratchet handle with 24 teeth must be moved 15 degrees to reach its limit. A handle with 60 teeth has to be moved only 6 degrees to turn a nut as far. You can find instructions for using a socket wrench in the section called "Removing spark plugs" in Chapter 12.
